If losing two of the last three games wasn't bad enough, the Cowboys found out Monday that quarterback Tony Romo will be out four to six weeks with a broken right pinky finger on his throwing hand.

Romo suffered the injury on the first play of the overtime loss to the Cardinals when he was sacked.

He thought it was a sprain and that's what the Cowboys diagnosed it as immediately after the game. But when the Cowboys returned to work Monday, they got the news the finger was broken.

Veteran quarterback Brad Johnson will start in his place.

"The system is already in place," said Johnson, a 17-year veteran and the only current Cowboys player with a Super Bowl ring.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, right, is injured as he recovers his own fumble and is tackled by Arizona Cardinals' Chike Okeafor, middle, and as Darnell Dockett, left, closes in during overtime of an NFL football game Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, in Glendale, Ariz. The Cardinals defeated the Cowboys 30-24. Romo will miss a few games with the injury.

Quarterback Tony Romo has a broken finger on his throwing hand, punter Mat McBriar has a broken foot and linebacker Greg Ellis senses a fractured team. With the losses of key players and two of their last three games, there is suddenly an eerie feeling surrounding the Dallas Cowboys, who came into the season as a Super Bowl favorite.
