Brandon Jacobs was born on July 6, 1982 in Houma, Louisiana. He was drafted in the fourth round with the 110th pick of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Jacobs possesses a rare combination of size (6’ 5” 264 lbs) and has 4.54 speed in the forty-yard dash.
Jacobs as Short Yardage Runner During Jacobs’ rookie season, he became the goal line running back for the New York Giants. Brandon runs with power, continually bulling over defenders for extra yards. He led all rookies in rushing touchdowns with 7 in the 2005 season. Jacobs’ Role Expands In 2006, Brandon Jacobs’ role expanded in the Giants’ offense. Not only was he the goal-line back, now he also would come in to spell Tiki Barber. Jacobs showed great promise as he carried the football 96 times for 423 yards and 9 touchdowns. His 4.4 yards per carry average was very impressive. He also hauled in 11 passes for 149 yards and solidified himself as the eventual replacement for Tiki Barber. Jacobs Becomes the Starter In 2007, Brandon Jacobs became the starting running back for the New York Giants. Despite being hampered by injuries for most of the season, Jacobs turned in a fine season carrying the football 202 times for 1009 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. He added 23 receptions for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns from the passing game.
