Simon Fletcher was born on February 18, 1962 in Bay City, Texas. After being a standout player for the University of Houston, Fletcher was drafted by the Denver Broncos with pick 54 overall in the second round of the 1985 NFL Draft. The 6-6 240 pound specimen played both outside linebacker and defensive end during his eleven year career. “He's so versatile, and that's the thing that's really helped us,” said Phillips, the Broncos’ defensive coordinator. “He can play up and he can play down. In our nickel stuff, he's a defensive end.” (1)
Simon Fletcher Denver Broncos Sack Master
Simon Fletcher was a premier pass rusher in the NFL during his career with the Denver Broncos. “He's a good rusher and he utilizes that ability,” Phillips said. “He's an extra- effort guy. Simon's taking advantage of what we're trying to do. You'd like to think it's coaching, but it's really not. He's just a great player. He's quick enough to make a lot of plays.” (1)
Simon Fletcher led the Broncos in sacks seven consecutive seasons from 1988-1994 and recorded 11 or more sacks in five consecutive seasons from 1989-1993. Fletcher was a starter on three AFC Championship Teams led by John Elway in 1986, 1987, and 1989.

Is Simon Fletcher in the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame?
To this point, Simon Fletcher has not been added to the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame. I think that is really ashamed that the team’s all time sack leader who played a team record 172 straight games has not been honored. Simon Fletcher was forgotten year after year by the Pro Bowl voters; let’s make sure he isn’t forgotten by the team he gave his all for.
