Donald Anthony Perkins was born on March 4, 1938 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was an NFL running back who spent eight seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Don Perkins played college football at the University of New Mexico, where he played running back, and was a returner. He was a three-time All-Skyline Selection from 1957-1959, and the Skyline Sophomore of the Year in 1957. In 1958, he led the nation in kickoff returns. One year, Perkins nearly single-handedly beat the United States Air Force Academy, an upset at the time.

Terrell Owens was drafted out of Tennessee Chattanooga with the 89th pick in the 1996 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Owens boyhood dream finally came true, forever idolizing then current superstar wide receiver Jerry Rice; Owens had a chance to learn from the very best. Thought to most as being an average prospect in a goldmine of a frame, 6 ft. 3 in. 224 lbs. Owens was drafted more on promise than anything else.

With Marion Barber at the end of a contract, the Cowboys were smart to address the position with two selections. Felix Jones is the perfect complement to Barber if he stays; if the Cowboys choose to let Barber go then Tashard Choice could fill his role. Remember, Barber was a fourth round pick himself, as was Tashard Choice. I like both those kids and they remind me exactly of the Jones-Barber draft just a few years back. Felix Jones is a speedster who is capable of making a big run at any time and Choice is your “between the tackles” guy who led the ACC in rushing the last two seasons. Jones of course played second fiddle to one Darren McFadden.
